Our mission is to help our clients fill their tool boxes with strategies and skills to successfully engage in their everyday world with confidence. We aim to accomplish this through person-led therapy practices and an emphasis on continued education, along with parent and caregiver coaching.
We use evidence-based practices and personalized treatment plans to address each individual's unique needs. Our approach includes a combination of therapy techniques to ensure the most effective outcomes.
Our team consists of highly trained and experienced speech therapists who specialize in a variety of areas, including articulation, language, fluency, and more. We are dedicated to staying up-to-date on the latest research and techniques to provide the best care possible.
We approach each case with a focus on discovering a client's strengths rather than their deficits. Therapy centered around gathering information about the strengths the child or young-adult possesses allows families and therapists to develop strategies that best support learning and growth.
We view all children and young adults as having the capacity to think, learn, and understand the world. As Neurodiversity Affirming therapists, we work to grant our clients the tools they need to communicate.
We practice complete respect for bodily autonomy. We do not participate in physical manipulation of client's body during therapy sessions without the client's consent. We utilize the "hand under hand" vs. "hand over hand" strategy when working on motor plans. This strategy allows children and adults to demonstrate their autonomy and remove their hands at their own will.
According to The institute of Patient and Family-Centered Care, the most successful therapy occurs when it is grounded on the mutually beneficial partnership among the individuals receiving care, their families, and their providers. We believe each party holds an equally valuable role in developing goals and outlines for each client.
Rather than focusing on gaining a child's compliance or adherence to therapy expectations, we work with children to regulate their emotions by providing environment and emotional support throughout therapy. For example, if a child demonstrates significant resistance to a task, we seek to modify the activity rather than the resistance behaviors. We teach self-advocacy.
We approach every session with 'total communication', meaning we are modeling and honoring all forms of communication i.e, verbal language, gestures, facial expressions, Speech Generating Devices, etc.
We follow a child-directed approach prioritizing Neurodiversity Affirming practices within our sessions. Building the foundation on the clients interests and connecting first. Our goal is to increase a child's or young adult's success interacting within their everyday world.
